Probation and Aftercare Service
Probation and Aftercare Service is a Government Agency involved in the administration of justice, specifically charged with the responsibility of implementing supervised non-custodial correctional services within the community; through the Probation of Offenders Act CAP 64, Community Services Orders Act CAP 92, Criminal Procedure Code CAP 75, Penal Code CAP 90, Borstal Institutions Act CAP 91, Prisons Act CAP 90, Power of Mercy Act of 2011, among other statutes. The Department runs three main programmes: Probation Orders Programme, Community Service Orders Programme and Aftercare Services.

 Kenya Prisons Service
The Kenya prison service is a key player in the criminal justice system. The department is charged with rehabilitation and reformation of offenders; administration of justice; containing offenders in safe and humane custody; recruitment and training of qualified staff; provision of care for children aged four (4) years and below who accompany their mothers to prison and training of young offenders in Borstal Institutions and Youth Corrective Training Centers.

The function of this Division is to coordinate, direct and monitor the activities of the State Department for the smooth running of the technical departments to enable them realizes their mandates. Some of the activities undertaken by administration include overseeing the implementation of government policies, respond to public issues and foster customer care, coordinate the operations of the technical departments and coordination of HIV/AIDS matters.
