STATE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONAL AND REHABILITATION SERVICES

Background

The State Department for Correctional Services falls under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government as per the Executive Order No. 1 of June 2018 (Revised). The State Department comprises of two technical departments namely; Kenya Prisons Service and the Probation and After Care Services, supported by General Administration and Planning Services. Previously, the two technical departments were domiciled under the then Office of the Vice President and Ministry of Home Affairs. Correctional Services as per the fourth schedule of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 is a National Government function.
