Kenya Prisons Service’s prowess in Nairobi Trade Fair

The Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) was awarded The Best Government Social Functions Stand during The Nairobi International Trade Fair on the 28th September 2022.

The event was graced by Deputy President Hon. Rigathi Gachagua who presented the awards to the winners.

Speaking during the event, the Deputy President praised how much agriculture has contributed to development of the country.

“Agriculture remains the backbone for industrial development, income generation and provision of raw materials for manufacturing,” he said.

Receiving the awards was the Commissioner General of Prisons Brg (Rtd) John Warioba who also received trophies for 2nd place The Most Striking Display (Demonstration of locally Manufactured Products) and also 3rd place, The Stand that best Interprets Current Show Theme (Government stand).

State Department for Correctional Services- Kenya Prisons Service support for Big 4 Agenda

Universal Health Coverage, Food Security, Manufacturing, and Affordable Housing are pillars of the Big 4 Agenda set aside by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Honorable Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H.

According to the President Delivery Unit, the Big 4 Agenda is a five-year development plan designed to fast-track the realization of the country’s vision 2030.

According to the vision 2030 website, Kenya Vision 2030 aims to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment.

The State Department for Correctional Services, specifically the Kenya Prisons Service has been successful in achieving some projects which focus on the realization of the Big 4 Agenda.

The results of several projects done in different correctional facilities within the country have enabled its realization.

These projects range from farms that cover the food security pillar, industries that cover the manufacturing pillar, different hospitals which provide services to inmates, staff, and members of the public covering the Universal Health coverage, and different staff houses which cover the affordable housing pillar.

CS LAUNCHES CHILDCARE POLICY, UNVEILS THE RAPID RESULT INITIATIVE PHASE I

The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i presided over the launch of the Childcare policy for the care of children of incarcerated mothers.

On the same occasion, he also graced the unveiling of the Rapid Results Initiative phase 1 which took place on Wednesday 27th July 2022 at the Prisons Staff Training College, Ruiru.

The Rapid Results Initiative is a program that took 100 days from 25th January 2022 to 6th July 2022 guided by five thematic areas which are improved operations and service delivery, enhancing the welfare of staff and inmates, fast-tracking implementation of development projects, strengthening collaboration with stakeholders and development partners and revamping the prison enterprise.
