The CS interior & Co-ordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang'i and CS Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Prof. Margaret Kobia launched a partnership between Kenya Prisons service and National Youth Service. The collaboration launched a borehole drilling at Kaloleni Prison in Kilifi County. The borehole will go a long way in alleviating the chronic water shortage that has been problem for a long time at the prison. The total cost is a fraction of the initial budget thanks to the partnership.
Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has launched the Kahawa law court in Kamiti to deal with the prosecution of drug-related, human trafficking, and terrorism cases.
Speaking in Kahawa on Monday during the ground-breaking ceremony Dr. Matiang'i said the court is part of the reforms that have been recommended in the correctional services sector. He said the court at Kamiti follows a successful model at the Shimo La Tewa prison in Mombasa.
Then new court will enable efficient services and an improvement in the time of transporting inmates to court with reduced risks.
Chief Justice David Maraga who was the chief guest during the ceremony said the Kamiti court will ease congestion in other courts and at the same time serve the courts in the region
