STATE DEPARTMENT FOR CORRECTIONAL SERVICES EMBRACES E-GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT SYSTEM

The State Department for Correctional Services has expressed its commitment to fully implement the Electronic Government Procurement in a bid to revolutionize its procurement processes and enhance efficiency and accountability.
Speaking during a meeting with State Department for Public Investment and Assets Management Principal Secretary Cyrell Odende, Secretary Administration at the Department Sammy Kioko said 40 Supply chain Management officers from the department have already been trained on the new system which is at the core of Kenya’s broad public finance management reforms.
According to PS, The National Treasury is spearheading the training of government officers on the implementation of the Electronic Government Procurement in a bid to revolutionize public procurement and enhance efficiency and accountability.
He noted that 100 Trainers of Trainers have already been trained in procurement identities and are readily available to train government procurement officers who are still having challenges in adopting to the new system.
The PS was accompanied by the Director of Public Procurement Eric Korir in the meeting that was also attended by Head of Supply chain Management, at the State Department for Correctional Services, Paul Kisang and officers from the procurement unit.
