26th Kenya Prisons Service Cadet Passout Parade Rehearsals

State Department for Correctional Services Principal Secretary, Mary Muthoni Muriuki HSC, presided over the 26th Kenya Prisons Service pass out parade rehearsal for 222 cadet officers at Prisons Staff Training College, Ruiru on 20th April 2023.

The trainings were successfully completed after 13 months and the officers were well equipped to serve the Country on different capacities, among them being Medicine, teaching, agriculture among other professions.

She was accompanied by Commissioner General of Prisons Brig (Rtd) John Warioba EGH, and other senior officers from the State Department.

The PS appreciated the President for supporting the training college which has mentored many young generations.

She requested the cadet officers to work closely with the with senior prisons officers while on the field for further mentorship.

She emphasized to them that they need to be committed beyond the call of duty.

“We are a correction service and not a punishment sector and that should go with you in whichever station you are placed," the PS said.

She also encouraged them to take into serious consideration tree planting campaign which is a directive by the President of ensuing 15 billion trees have been planted by 2032 and urged the cadet officers to plant trees in the stations they will be posted.

The PS was impressed by the number of female cadets graduating noting that women have shown courage by completing the training successfully.

Madam Muthoni urged the cadets to serve the government and the Country diligently and make good use of the many skills acquired at the training.

The cadets will be posted to various stations across the Country.

"Take a firm stance against corruption," the PS advised them.
