CORRECTIONAL SERVICES STAFF TRAINED ON NATIONAL VALUES, ETHICS, AND GOOD GOVERNANCE
Staff at the State Department for Correctional Services are undertaking a three-day sensitization programme on national values and principles of governance.
On Tuesday, beneficiaries of the training were taken through national values and principles and the Public Service Code of Conduct and Ethics, 2016 and the Public Officer Ethics Act, 2003.
The training, facilitated by the state department for Public Service, seeks to align the operations of the state department with the provisions of the constitution and the national development agenda.
According to Simon Gichuki from the State Department for Public Service, maintenance of national values and principles of good governance will lead to social-economic, cultural and political transformation.
Speaking during one of the sessions, Acting Secretary Administration at the State Department for Correctional Services Sammy Kioko said the training is intended to guide all officers working in the department in the execution of the various roles.
“It is important for every one of us to internalize the values and principles so that as we perform our duties, we exhibit the best that is expected from public servants,” observed Kioko.
Among topics covered in the training include fostering a shared understanding of constitutional values, enhancing ethical decision making and promoting adherence to good governance and professional ethics.
