CORRECTIONAL SERVICES PS HOLDS MEETING WITH STAFF, CALLS FOR RENEWED COMMITMENT

Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco, has challenged staff working at the department to exhibit commitment to excellence for effective and efficient service delivery.


Speaking at the Prison Staff Training College in Ruiru during a breakfast meeting with staff meant to set the agenda for the calendar year, the PS said the mandate of the state department is for the common good of the citizenry and as such officers should uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.


She emphasized the importance of hard work and consistency imploring officers to proactively address existing challenges to fulfil the Department’s mandate. 


“Let us choose to work hard consistently, work as a team, consistently be selfless, choose to reject nepotism and invest in ourselves consistently,” implored the PS.


The PS urged officers to take advantage of existing wellness programs and seek support when necessary. She stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, caring for their families, and fostering good relationships with loved ones, as both mental and physical health are crucial for effective service delivery.


“Cherish and support your families. Let our homes be havens of peace and joy. Be the instruments of the peace you want in your homes.” The PS challenged staff. 
The PS also called on department heads to hold regular staff meetings and promote open communication to tackle workplace challenges. She noted that a supportive work environment contributes to better performance.
