Ministry of Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Hon. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, EGH has urged the three State Departments under the Ministry to ensure they achieve the targets set in their respective Performance Contracts.
He said this while presiding over the signing of the State Departments’ performance contracts on 15th September, 2023 at the Ministry’s headquarters, Harambee House, Nairobi.
The three State Departments include Correctional Services, Internal Security and National Administration and Immigration and Citizen Services.
“Set the tone with His Excellency the President in terms of performance. The terms of the contracts were negotiated and therefore need to be achieved,” the CS addressed the PS’s and all the senior officers present during the event.
State Department for Correctional Services Principal Secretary MS. Salome M. Beacco signed the State Department’s Performance Contract for the financial year 2023/2024.
The PS was accompanied by the Commissioner General of Prisons Brig (Rtd) John Warioba and the Acting Secretary Probation and Aftercare Service Dr. Christine Obondi who also signed their respective contracts.
Also present to sign his performance contract was State Department for Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo together with eight Regional Commissioners.
The CS committed himself to fully support the State Departments in achieving the set targets for enhanced service delivery to the nation.
“I wish you well and I want us to do our best to succeed,” the CS said.
One of the guides to excellent performance and effective service delivery in government is presence of performance contracts which sets out targets and acts as an accountability framework for Ministries, State Departments and Agencies.
