She said the department is already in talks with other ministries, departments and government agencies including that of defence and medical services to fast-track the operationalization of the hospital and ensure a robust health system.
“Correctional Services will collaborate with other government agencies as part of one government approach, in efforts aimed at ensuring that services offered at the facility are of the highest possible standards.” She said.
According to the PS, it is imperative that the hospital become operational as it is among medical facilities meant to assist men and women in uniform, their families and members of the public get access to high standards of healthcare services.
The 150-bed capacity hospital, based at the Ruiru Prisons Staff Training College, was constructed by the Kenya Defence Forces with the PS saying that KDF has a long history of managing and operationalizing health facilities.
