CORRECTIONAL SERVICES SET TO BENEFIT FROM 9,000 HOUSING UNITS

The State Department for Correctional Services is set to benefit from 9,000 housing units under the Public-Private housing projects programme.

A Public-Private programme committee meeting held on Tuesday was informed that Correctional Services department has been drafted in the proposed funding agreement, with procurement of transactional advisory services now underway.

According to the plan, the funding will be in form of a grant, with the project period lasting one year from the time of funding execution.

Speaking during the meeting, Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco said the latest development will complement ongoing efforts aimed at addressing long-standing accommodation challenges within the department. The efforts include phased construction of institutional houses and integration into the national Affordable Housing Programme.

Among those present at the meeting were Public Investments & Assets Management PS Cyrell Odede and Energy PS Alex Wachira.
