PLANS FOR THE CORRECTIONAL SERVICE WEEK 2026 GATHERS PACE

All is set for the fourth edition of the Correctional Service Week scheduled for October 13–15, 2026.

Organizers of Correctional Service Week 2026 received a shot in the arm on Thursday after the Kenya National Association of Probation Officers (KNAPO) donated 200,000 shillings to the State Department for Correctional Services in support of the celebrations.

KNAPO National Chairperson Wycliffe Wathome presented the cheque to Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco saying the association will participate in the Correctional Service Week through practical presentations and exhibitions to showcase the work and contribution of probation officers.

While thanking the Association for its support, the PS said officers from Probation and Aftercare Services play a critical role in the country’s security sector through social crime prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders even as she urged KNAPO to strengthen partnerships and stakeholder engagement, support volunteer initiatives and come up with innovative ways of promoting probation and aftercare services.

Under the theme “Transforming Correctional Services through Technology and Green Solutions”, this year’s edition of the Correctional Service Week will focus on efforts realized in digitizing services, embracing clean and sustainable energy, and climate-smart agriculture within correctional facilities and will conclude with a gala dinner honoring top-performing correctional institutions and practitioners

The conference is coming as the State Department for Correctional Services enhances the adoption of innovative technologies and strategies as it seeks to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

The move, according to Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco, is meant to transform correctional facilities into centers of excellence in renewable energy and modern technology.
